Our family loves to read! Books are so important to us and we’ve passed that along to our children. So of course we have a very large selection of Thomas and Train books that we have spent many lovely hours reading. But we also found a lot of train books that are not Thomas the Train that our children, especially William really love.
Here are a few of our favorites that we wanted to share with you!
"The Little Engine That Could" is a classic! That is a must have for any train fan. The story is beautiful and obviously teaches a great value, and the art in the book is absolutely beautiful!
The Usborn "Discovery Trains" book is for the kid who loves to learn deeper details and some history. This book discusses some of the first trains and early history, along with discussing various modern train technology. It’s definitely a must have for the train loving child!
This is a lovely story we found while furniture shopping at Ikea! Our children love "The Night Train" as a bedtime story, it definitely gets the imagination going and has a lovely ending with beautiful illustrations.
The Usborn "Big Book of Big Trains" has been so loved! This was one of our first non-Thomas train books and probably the gateway to the train obsession, so beware!
It covers details about various trains, and we loved discussing which Thomas train characters were inspired by some of these trains!
The book "I Knew You Could" reminds us of another favorite that’s not a train book (Oh, The Places You’ll Go!). It’s a very lovely somewhat rhyming book, which has a very good message. It’s an easy and quick read, and all of our children love this one!
We may have a slight Usborn book obsession!
But the Usborn "Build Your Own Trains Sticker Book" is fantastic as a quiet time activity book. Definitely for the slightly older kids, as the stickers have to be matched to the specific parts in order to complete the pictures. There is also some information about each train.
And there you have it, a few of our favorite train books for the train loving kid! What are some of your favorites? Feel free to pop by our Facebook Page and let us know!
